HiPEAC 2026, which took place in Kraków from 26–28 January 2026, provided an important platform for EUPILOT to connect with the European HPC community. The project featured at the RISC-V@BSC booth, where the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) presented a range of its RISC-V efforts, with EUPILOT appearing alongside fellow initiatives DARE and the European Processor Initiative.
One of the conference’s standout moments was a dedicated workshop titled “RISC-V: the cornerstone ISA for the next generation of HPC infrastructures”, chaired by Teresa Cervero García (BSC). Bringing together voices from both academia and industry, the workshop examined where RISC-V stands today and what role it could play in the future of high-performance computing infrastructure. EUPILOT was presented by the project’s PI, Carlos, Puchol, as one of several European projects working to advance digital autonomy through open hardware; the session also featured input from Alexandra Kourfali, Osman Unsal, and Etienne Walter.
Diversity in tech was another thread running through the programme, with the session “Building the Diversity Continuum in Cutting-Edge Technologies”, organized by the MAR Chapter of Women in HPC and led by BSC’s Sara Royuela, drawing attention to why inclusive participation matters for the long-term health of the HPC field.
