The award ceremony of the Spanish National Research Awards for 2023 took place on 14 March 2024 at the Borgia Palace in Gandia, Valencia
These prizes recognize researchers who are doing outstanding work in scientific fields of international relevance and who contribute significantly to the advancement of scientific knowledge and the progress of humankind.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and was attended by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, who presented the awards to this year’s 20 winners.
Diana Morant Ripoll, Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities gave the opening speech, recognizing the importance of supercomputing in modern science. The event was also attended by Carlos Mazón Guixot, President of the Generalitat Valenciana and Jose Manuel Prieto Part, Mayor of Gandia, among other authorities.
On behalf of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) Carlos Puchol, principal investigator of the EUPILOT project, was invited and had the opportunity to interact with His Majesty King Felipe VI, thanking him for his visit to his hometown, agreeing on the importance of research investments, as well as the need for knowledge transfer.
