The 2024 OCP EMEA Regional Summit, held in Lisbon, Portugal, on 24 April, 2024, was a remarkable success, marking the largest EMEA event to date with 725 attendees. The event brought together technical and business leaders from the EMEA region to address key issues such as data center sustainability, energy efficiency, and heat reuse, showcasing how innovations from hyperscale data center operators can help solve these challenges.
The summit’s focus areas included Data Center Sustainability, AI, Security & Data Protection, Power & Cooling, and Deployments, with additional talks on quantum technology, optics, and telecommunications. Participants gained insights into the pivotal role of OCP Community innovations in developing a sustainable and scalable computational infrastructure.
The event featured 9 Breakout Session tracks, 3 Special Focus Tracks on OpenRAN, Optics for AI Clusters, and Quantum, along with a half-day dedicated to AI. An impressive lineup of 191 speakers delivered 284 sessions, and Stordis hosted a colocated workshop on SONiC. The summit also included 41 sponsors and 25 Expo Hall booths, highlighting the collaborative effort of the OCP Community. The success of the event was made possible by the dedicated Sponsors, Members, Partners, Volunteers, and the entire Community.
EUPILOT’s keynote at the OCP EMEA Summit 2024
At the Open Compute Project in Lisbon, Daniel Pope (Submer) and Carlos Puchol (BSC) delivered a keynote titled “The EUPILOT: Europe’s OCP-Based HPC and AI Pre-Exascale Accelerator Demonstrator.” They shared insights into the project’s mission to create a powerful European computer system designed for high-performance tasks and artificial intelligence.
